    Default Roseate Spoonbill

Since we are staying on Sanibel for a couple weeks I wanted to be sure to get a Roseate Spoonbill. The Roseate Spoonbill is THE iconic bird for the Island. It's somehow goofy looking and beautiful at the same time.

When the fog cleared off this morning we headed back to Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge and were lucky enough to get a wonderful view of the spoonbills in perfect light.

I'm continuing to enjoy experimenting with the 1DX to see if I prefer it to my 5D3 for bird photography. For static shots like this I seen no advantage at all.

Worked up in Lightrooom 5 and Photoshop CC

Good job on the exposure and a wonderful pose with soft light. The wings look a bit over-done.... And the head is turned slightly away. All in all a very pleasing image.

Artie, I'm not sure what you mean by "over-done"
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it!

Beautiful adult spoonbill. Wings look good to me, but I wish for a lower angle.

Nice Image. Like the Exposure, details an colors. But a lower angle would enhance the photo

What a lovely species this one is, wish we could get them in Australia to go with our Yellow Billed and Royal Spoonbills.
Only thing I'd change if this was a picture of mine would be to try 'n get the water a bit darker so it's not as harsh.

Thank you kindly for sharing this with us ^.^
