    This was captured earlier in the year using a Manfrotto tripod with Manfrotto gimbal head 393

    1D MK IV - 300mm f2.8L IS USM MKII plus 2 X extender MK III
    ISO 640, f8, 1/200 sec

    LR5 basics
    PSE 9 - LM with adjustment layers - levels, D&B, sat, USM

    In the hot summer we have here the birds flock to my little bird bath placed conveniently outside my front porch. These little guys are quite common and one of my favourites.

    Such a colourful bird you got there Carl
    the low level perspective is nice, i like the IQ and the colours
    eye is special
    i may have preferred less of top and more of water in the frame, just each of our tastes
    nice one over all

    Lovely species. to my eye, the background competes for attention, so I might crop in to eliminate some of it.

    What a beautiful bird! Nice low angle and you timed your image at the right time as far as pose goes...or chose the correct one to process and share :-) Nice colours and I like the subdued light. I'm OK with the crop and amount of BG showing but agree it is competing for attention due to the large dark areas in it. I'm liking the bottom half more than I thought I would.
