    Finally managed to get out with some gorgeous light today. The wonderful colours were really showing up well in the water which I think set this Gadwall image off. Comments always welcomed.

    7D, 500 + 1.4X, f6.3, ISO400, 1/1250ss, Manual, 80% FF.

    Technically everything looks good to my inexperienced eye.

    The golds and greens in the water help overcome the inherent drabness of the bird.
    There might be a bit more visual interest if you selectively increased the saturation of the blue areas in the water.

    Thanks Henry. Not colourful like a lot of birds but it's one of my favourites. I actually toned the blue down a bit so as not to distract from the rest of the image. Thanks the suggestion. I'm not sure if I should drop a bit more off the right.

    Nice water. Nice duck. Nice look back head turn. One of my favorite (and least photographed duck species).

    Thanks Arthur. I guess the only thing I wished I'd been able to do is shoot from a lower POV.

    Although I'm a huge fan of even lower POVs than this you would had lost the beautiful texture of the water having done so. Good job all around Simon!
