Default Weekly -- the next kid to be thankful for

We don't have a dog so a kid will have to do.

This is older daughter Annie, shot yesterday at the family Thanksgiving. (Younger daughter Gina lives in LA and her work schedule, in human resources for ABC, is busy this time of year so they didn't make it up here.)

We were all very thankful that Annie is recovered from the burst appendix she managed to have a week ago. She was walking gingerly and holding her side, but back to her normal radiant self. She might have been more comfortable in a girdle but I don't think they come in a size 4. Family members always bring a lot of the food but this year everybody (13 of us) brought EVERYTHING. It was probably the nicest meals on wheels in Marin county.

I tried to shoot some candids with the 5D3 and 70-200, but it's not easy to get good light, a good expression, and a sharp picture. Especially while juggling a wine glass.

Hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving!

This is a beautiful portrait. The lighting, the texture, and the vignetting are wonderful. The only thing I'd even think about changing would be to lighten the catchlight in her left eye a bit.

Very nice indeed.... So glad she is recovering from her appendix.

I'm no good at portraits so have no critique, just like it all around.

    Diane,

Greetings. I'm partial to candid portraits and I like this one. The hand gives good balance and you've caught a pleasant expression. A reflective spot on the part in the hair could be removed. A little more on the left would be to my taste. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Beautiful capture against a nice simple bkgd! Nice pose with her head slightly turned and of course, a beautiful smile! Glad the appendix experience turned out well. Good Thanksgiving with my family.

Thanks everyone! I see the spot now -- will fix it! And now I see the left eye (her left) is lower contrast than the right -- probably a function of tonal tweaking in LR -- should fix that, too.

Good job at capturing a candid portrait at Thanksgiving--note easy. You did a lovely job. I especially like her smile and the turn of her head. Wonderful that she was with you and that she is recovering.
