The Roseate Spoonbills are beginning to reappear all over Florida. YAY!! This one was photographed just after sunrise, and the sun hadn't even hit its legs yet.

I hope everyone has a super duper Thanksgiving surrounded by family, friends and/or pets!!!

The colours are so perfect in here
Great IQ , pose is nice and the forward bent neck makes it interesting with the lovely wing position
there appears small amount of noise in the BG to me, a lovely image over all

I like the incoming pose, exposure, BG and composition. It would have been nice to get him in full light but you take what you can get. Well done Marina!

Hi Marina, sweet sweet light, and I like the incoming pose. Those pinks show up nicely against that killer BG.

Getting up early and having action in early light will always produce the goods. Well captured.

Marina I don't think I can add a lot to what has already been said, excellent.

What lovely capture and colours are outstanding Marina! If this were mine I would do a bit of noise reduction to the BG and perhaps (if possible) get a bit more detail on the feet, but this is just nit-picking. I really love this, subject sharp and the pose is superb!

    Kind regards,

Right place at the right time and be ready - you certainly nailed this one Marina and those colours are out of this world - excellent shot.

Wonderful pose and sharp. Nice BKGR. EML is always nice but there is a greenish muddy color cast.... Addressed in the repost which to my eye is a much cleaner look with more natural colors but still obviously EML.

What makes this image so special is the light and that killer BG. So unusual for a spoonie.
    Love everything about this one.

I like it. As they begin to slowdown just before landing the feet come down and dangle; wings become almost perpendicular to the sensor at the end of the beat. Like the stretched out neck. Although the body has a blurry feel you got it sharp where it matters the most, the eye. good details in the wings. I like it all.

Artie's repost looks much cleaner, albeit with the BG noise more pronounced.

I probably missed a post on Artie's Blog. What is EML???

Excellent comp and bird placement, Marina. The blur primaries makes this image very dynamic. Lovely bg to go along with this pink beauty in gorgeous warm light. Terrific image.

Some day I'd love to capture a spoonbill as well as this!
    Great action.

I prefer your post to the rework that Artie did. With his the shoulders became a bit burned out.
The yellow cast to yours fits with the time of day that you took it.
    I'm jealous!

    Cracker of a shot, Marina!
I wonder if instead of f/5.6, f/8 would have been more useful here.

Why??? Everything is sharp from the tip of the bill to the toes to the wing tips (the latter but for a bit of pleasing motion blur)?
