    Default Spear fishing

I was out at first light on Saturday, shooting and watching a few Egrets fish. I have lots of Egrets shots with prey, but I like the spearing action a zoom of this shot shows.

This is fantastic Robert. I might look at dropping the blues at few points in Hue/Saturation if you use PS and then increase the saturation of the yellow channel to boost the richness in the beak and eye.

    Nice one

Excellent, for the wall. I'd reduce the blue in the bird's head to increase the separation between the head and the blue background.

Hi Robert, Jamie beat me to it, (great minds ), but totally agree, if you selectively reduce the Blue, partially the Red on the Egret, then up the yellow on the bill the whole composition certainly comes through very nicely and perhaps a word I tend to over use, but give an 'etherial' feel. Again, like Miguel's image, the simplicity just makes the image so striking, but not always the easiest to pull off. BKG and water have a gentle, softness to it.

Just check your setting & conversion to sRGB.

Beautiful image with a dreamy feeling to it. Nice comp. Good suggestions about selective color balance.

Hi Robert, I really like the overall setting, and the pastel colours of the water takes this up a few notches. Great seeing the catch, even if it is a touch small for him.

You are posting some great images Robert.
I really like this. As I am so late to the party, I read the critiques before me and I think all my concerns have been addressed re: fixing the blues on the bird.
Great soft BG and terrific pose.
    Well done,
    Gail

The folks have already offered suggestions in regards to the issues I had in mind. Other than that the image is quite terrific really. Super comp, great catch, and I like the overall soft colours of the BG and water. Very well done!

Thank you all, for taking the time to evaluate and make suggestions, on this shot. I think you are right on target with your suggestions, and I will put them to good use, as I have about 20 other shots taken in this light. Have a Great Thanksgiving.
