    Default Carmine Bee-Eater

Just having a play with a couple of files from 2010, and would like to bounce this one off your guys.

Wondering what you think of the more environmental shot which taken from a moving vehicle.

Now that's a flight shot! It's a pity the bird was not just a bit lower in the frame to allow more terrain in the image. The dark cloud is just a bit over powering. The side lighting may not be every ones cup of tea but in my view it adds depth and a reality so often missing. If you were a just a few feet higher this would have been brilliant but sadly we are victims to the unpredictable.

Hi Russell, stretching your wings on this one.

For me I prefer the OP, love the sliver of yellow at the foot, it just seems to sit well with the rest of the colour palette. I like the position in frame and the bird/wing angle. I also like the cloud formation and contrast between the white clouds and the darker, ominous ones.

I really like the idea, and the OP works better for me than the RP. I just wish the bird's head had been turned partially sideways to see the bill.

Very nicely executed. Also very different than what we usually see here with the 70 mm focal length. Well executed!

Russell, I think the OP has more natural looking colours. Sky and carmine look more natural to me (although i wasn't there)
I like the juxtaposition of the bee eater which looks bright and cheerful against the cloudy ominous sky.
As Steve said, the yellow grassland at the bottom of the frame adds a lovely contrast.

Very different, and considering taken from a moving vehicle that is an accomplishment. I too prefer the OP as the repost has a too blue sky IMO. I do wish the placement of the subject was better though as I too would have liked more of the land showing and less space at right. The side lighting does indeed add drama, which works well with the already dramatic sky.

Hi Russell, the OP works for me with regards to the colours, and if anything, I would place the BE a touch lower, and a little more to the right.

Op here too. A very creative shot. Very well done from a moving car.

Agree with most that the OP works better IMO

Good effort from a moving vehicle ;)

Love what you were going for here. The OP works better for me as well and agree on the "if only" on the bird's head. Keep on shooting with that wide angle. It's going to land you some killer and unique images!!!
