I had high hopes for the Salinas River NWR on my recent trip. As it turned out, I only had one morning to visit it, between the end of the government shutdown and the opening of hunting season. And not as much there as I had hoped. But I did come across this cute fellow making his flycatching sorties. He didn't sit still for long, but I was pleased to get my first image of the species.

Grand little fella Bill. The yellow bit in the back catches my eye a little but no big deal.

    Lovely Image Bill.

You've done well to catch the bird without too many branches interfering and I think the light shows off the detail well.
I wonder if toning down the perch slightly would make it stand out even more.

I like the subject head turn and details. I also like the curved perch and twigs anchored at top and left (not so much the central part at very corner though). I also could do without the oof branches growing out of the subject's head but you had a setting that is tough to avoid such branches unless you had time to move right (unlikely). It still is a very nice image, well composed.
