Another look at this beautiful duck, which is unfortunately not 100% peak breeding plumage yet here. The pond did freeze over for a night or two a few days after this image was taken so the duck fled for wetter pastures before I could get to him in his prime. For this particular image the water colour and "brush stroke" texture is a major positive IMO.
Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, just about FF, some specks removed from the water surface via spot removal tool and a second catchlight cloned out (I'm usually OK with a second catchlight when the subject is on water, but this one was just too obstructive for my tastes.)
