I know the comments about the bright BG on these is true, but unless I artificially toned them down,
this is what Kauai looks like everywhere. There is nothing that is not pretty much vivid color and plant life.
There are no pale bokehs that I could get.
At least the hairdo stands out!

Dan, the BG here is more pleasing here than the others due to the absence of the bright yellow spots in the previous image. I love the pose and stare you got here, very cool. Digging the low angle too. This image would work well as a square comp with a bit more canvas left and right IMO.

Made me laugh. Cute expression and wonderful colors. Sweet low angle allowing for a sense of you being right in his world.

Hi Dan, now this is what I call 'eye contact' - well timed for the stare down. The reds on the head are quite striking, works for me, as they really pop from the rest of the image. Im fine with the comp as is.

Fun pose with attitude. Wouldn't mine a little more canvas here.

Another nice shot from your Hawaiian series! I've got no issues whatsoever with the BG. I would like a bit more canvas, and Daniel's idea about a square crop is a good one.

I like the low angle, eye contact, setting and good control on the reds. Another vote for a more square crop but the image is fine as presented. Well done Dan!

I like the HA with two visible eyes. Very lovely bird with great shooting angle & composition. TFS

Cool looking head on shot of this guy. I too dont mind the BG on this one and the low angle adds some depth to the grassy shot. Nice raised crest also. You did better than I did with this species! Good job.
