When these Egrets leave their nests to go off and fetch nesting material, they sometimes fly low over the water. Taken early last sunday morning.

Hi Stu, I like the water being reflected back into the down wing. Nice overall sharpness, but I think you can tease a bit more 'depth' from within the whites, in doing so it brings out greater clarity in the wings and the finer detail within the head. I do like the simplicity of the image.

    gorgeous image Stuart. Very serene.
I love the reflections from the water on the wings.
Perhaps the whites around the throat and neck could be darkened a bit to get more detail.

    This is excellent Stuart.
I really like the reflection of the water on the wing and that perfect wings down position.
    Exposure is perfect.

superb image! lovely low shooting angle, IQ & colors. DOF is terrific.
would just try & squeeze a bit of details on the whites near the head.

Thanks Shane. After having used my 100-400mm for most of my photography, the 300mm with the 2x is really great. I dont find any loss of IQ, and Ive used this combo at 3 different locations with excellent results. Ive been looking for a 2nd hand one to buy, but they are vary scarce around here.

Thank you everyone else for the feedback. I will look into bringing out the whites a little better.

Holy cow Stuart!! Thats awesome. The detail is impeccable and the exposure is killer. One of the best shots of this type, and there are allot of them of Egrets flying over water, I have ever seen. Great job

The 300 f/2.8 is a great lens, and you've done it justice with the detail in this frame! Was it the new one or the old one? A slightly better head angle would be the only thing that could improve the photo.
