Another from Nome. The light and colors up there are beyond belief and with 20 hours of daylight in June, it was a photographer's dream spot.

A stunning pose in sublime light, Grace. Did you have to force yourself to sleep? How did you decide when to sleep?

Marina, Sleep was not part of that trip. One night I got 5 hours, most of the time 2 or 3. somedays there was a bit of down time mid-day for rest, but most of the time, especially when raining, we just pushed through. I was like the walking dead when I got home, but wouldn't change a thing. Thank you for your comment on this image!

Hi Grace, exquisite light, which in turn has brought out the colours so well. Love the skyward pose, angled tail, and if anything, I would have brought out the two droplets a touch more.

    Wonderful light
the pose is super and its enhanced due to the eye level perspective captured, great looking details and exposure, the long tail in full view makes it stand out.
    lovely image over all

    Wonderful shot Grace,
Great low POV and behavior captured. I could see this image with a slight increase in saturation or warmer balance to bring out the chocolate velvet brown color even more,

Wow, such a beautiful image, Grace. Love the great pose, low shooting angle and the positioning of the bird in the frame.

Ditto all the positives above. Was audio used on this or the flight image?

Artie, Yes, Matthew used audio. In my opinion, he was judicious...played a call a couple of times and then we left them alone.
