    Hi Johnny

These are great birds and you have done well to catch one on the ground.
I think the Autumn leaves add to the image but would consider toning down the ones top left if it were mine. Other than that I don't think I woudl change anything. Well done.

    TFS.

Goegeous little (very little) bird Johnny. That's quite a busy little waterhole you've got there.
I agree with Iain's comment about the leaves in the top LH corner.

What a gem of a shot, beautiful detail and exposure, excellent setting, that pool is really paying dividends, one of the most attractive goldcrest shots I have seen.

    Thanks guys- appreciated.
    Here.s a repost

The pool is about 100 yards from the house and that's a trip out for me !!
Doesn't cost a lot and I suppose the results are quite nice with what some have called an "entry level " camersa !

nice little fellow, you got him sharp with a nice pose and angle, I like the yellow leaf but the rest of the leaves are a bit distracting. if you can get closer to your subject (if MFD of your lens allows) you can reduce dof and blur the surroundings so that they are less distracting.

Very nice capture! I would have liked to have seen the bird standing a bit higher so we could see its feet, but that's minor. I do have to say that I disagree with a lot of people who prefer a blurred background most of the time. Although I do like them in many cases, especially for birds in flight, there's a wonderful quality to seeing the details of a bird in its natural surroundings.

Arash - Don't think I can get much closer than 5 foot, and if I did it ould be hard when the bigger stuff arrives ! At f 7.1, even the bird would be out of focus in parts dof wise.

JRThe leaves etc are blowing about anyway so there,s no chance of jving them in the right place every time.

If you could get closer you could zoom out for the bigger birds :). And making an effort to carefully place middle toned leaves in the right places would pay huge dividends...

    Hi thanks.
I think 5 foot is pushing it a bit, and I cannot keep getting out to "arrange leaves" It sometimes takes an hour for the birds to settle anyway after I have entered the hide.. The leaves wouldn't stay in the same place anyway. Maybe I am miss- understanding you.

I forgot to mention bye the way - the pool is spring fed with a circular water motion. keeping leaves in one spot to say the least would be slightly difficult. - (to say the least )
