    Default Ring-Billed Gull

I photographed this gull while in San Francisco; it let me get quite close. What do you all think of the tight crop here?

I like the composition and you handled the harsh light well. Maybe another round of sharpening.

    Hi Doug,
It does look like there is more detail in the whites and as Axel pointed out........a hair more sharpening..........love the eye and the ring on the bill.
PS I love tight crops!!!.........but my vote may be the only one you get!:D

I really like head portraits like this Doug. The image looks really sharp to me. It's got that look of natural sharpness, not produced post-capture. Very nice!

    Like the 'tight' portrait.
Looks a bit soft on my screen. :)

    Hi Doug,

The crop does not bother me at all. You did well with the exposure and details.

I like the tight crop. Nice exposure on the whites and a nice background also.

Doug, I like it as too. Good exposure. Just a wee bit more sharpening for me as well.

I'm not a fan of Gulls! but the crop is fine to me. nice detail! I would take the contrast down just a hair and do USM

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Looks like a little more sharpening for this gull!
