    Default Black Rapid R7 strap

I was hoping someone might have some suggestions for me. I have been using a Black Rapid R7 strap connected to my canon 300 mm f2.8 lens on the lens collar. I have just bought a new ball head and wimberley plate and was wondering if there is a means of connecting the black rapid to the wimberley plate so I don't have to keep taking the plate off / on when switching between hand holding and using the tripod. I'm not keen on connecting the black rapid to my camera I prefer it on the lens collar. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes there is. Buy a quick release clamp with a 1/4" hole and screw the black rapid connector to it. Then use the clamp to connect to your wimberly plate. It comes off and on quickly so you can mount to tripod easily. The clamp I use is http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ase_Clamp.html

I use it for my 600f4 so I know it will work for the 300 2.8. I have also replaced my canon lens handle with a kirk that has a built in arca swiss connection so I don't require the extra plate.

Here's picture someone posted online of a similar connection
