Nicely composed, sweet BG, and I dig those red eyes. I like that we are at eye level yet can see the dorsal wing surfaces. Subject appears to be grinning. Did you consider darkening the perch? Sometimes I find the catchlights in dragon and damsel eyes distracting; this is one of those cases.

I like the shot good exposure, focus looks good, (it would be better if we had a larger image say 1024 or 1200px). The catchlight on the eye doesn't really bother me too much because more often than not there quite simply is one.... so when there isn't I wonder why

    Very nice, Stuart.

The good background sets off the insect nicely. The colors of the insect and sharpness where needed are very good. I especially like the way the feet grasp the perch, and the "hairy" structures on the legs. The perch and eye catchlight are fine as is.

What aperture and shutter speed did you use on that windy day to produce this quality image?

Hi Stuart. Very nice colors, pose, and comp! Good sharpness where you most need it - and all set against a clean and interesting background. Very well done!
