    Default Black-fronted Dotterel

This little dotterel was busy feeding in thick mud when it suddenly stretched its wings upwards and then continued as if nothing happened! Laratinga Wetlands, South Australia, Canon 1DIV, EF 600 f4 IS, 1.4TC III, 1/2000, f 8.0, ISO 1000, tripod with Wimberley II at ground level. PP in CS6 - cropped, noise, sharpen. Critique welcome.

Hi Gerhard - I like the wings up position as well as the comp. Lovely smooth colourful background and some nice detail on the bird. Not sure if it is my screen but I wonder if you could pull out more detail form the blacks. Well captured

Beautiful shorebird with a striking oribital eye ring and matching flashy bill. Your timing and low angle technique was perfect imo. It would not surprise me if someone suggested removing the white (feathers) on the ground... I enjoy seeing how long the wings are when fully extended as such.

Gerhard it looks really good with the raised wings and the muddy legs and looks perfect against that lovely BG.

The white stuff is not feathers mate - its bird poo!

Typical wader wing stretch caught spot on. Wonder why they do it more than other birds?
    Great stuff.

A stunning capture with magnificent timing. Both wings showing is a plus. Nice head angle and perfect catch-light. Definitely portfolio worthy!

Stunning bird, great pose. You could trim some of the mud from the bottom if you wish. Love the muddy feet and beak.

Killer image, light, pose and BG. I would crop some off the bottom.

Superb wing stretch, killer BG, and I love the red accents. Another vote for some crop off the bottom.
