I'd like opinions on this image. I didn't do too much OOTB work in editing. It is more the use of a very shallow dof, f1.8, with a 50mm lens.

My first thought was yea! a touch of spring on this grey day. I wondered if there was just too much background blur for the amount of sharpness, but I have decided that it is ok. You have positioned the flower's sharpness at the right place. Like the one drop falling off the petal.

Thanks for your thoughts, Hazel. I have a version with less blur in the bg. Depending on what others write, I may post it.

I really like the soft images you are coming up with a 1.8 Anita. I was thinking maybe a bit busy on the BG too, but you can hardly ever get an isolated clean shot. The colours are delicious!

Love the main daffodil with its selective focus, lovely colors and the water drops. And I really like the idea of repeating daffodils in the bkgd, but as is, their brightness is somewhat distracting. One possibility that comes to mind is for the bkgd to be more like that most distant daffodil towards the upper left corner. Anita, you are always inspirational when it comes to flowers and it is interesting to see some of your thinking with this image.

Beautiful! I'm wondering how it would look with either more or less blur, and maybe less contrast, on the left part. But the main flower is certainly sharp and interesting enough to hold its own.

It feels a little crowded on the bottom -- do you have more canvas there?

The main subject with the water droplets is nicely captured. As the others have mentioned, the bg is quite busy. If the bg elements could have been limited to the single repeating flower, you would have a winner.

What if you crop off about the left 3/5th?? You still have the striking subject, which doesn't really need much of a BG or context.
