    Default Great Egret (Ardea alba)

Took this at Western Treatment Plant on 11/5/13 at 5.31am it was a very nice day. large crop around 90%. Took this out of my car window as he was hanging out in a swamp. After some advice from some good chaps on this forum I spent the day shooting when possible at f8.

That is good IQ for only 10% of full-frame. If possible I would personally prefer getting closer than to crop so much but sometimes you have to work with what you have (I speak as someone who does not like to crop much except for helping the composition). I like the wide open eye, exposure, and curve of the neck.

Nice looking portrait with good looking detail in the bill and eye. It looks a little under exposed to me. Maybe a third increase or so. Well captured.

Hi Daniel, I wasn't taking this photo at the time as a portrait, it was an after thought :)

Nice composition on this one, and I just love the bird against the blue BG.
