    Default Hummer Blur...

    Attached Images Attached Images

Though I had great fun doing the sharp flight images I get bored easily, so on morning 4 I decided to fool around a bit. I had the six flashes on but dropped down to 1/30 sec. shutter speed rather than the 1/300 that I had been using. This in no way effected the exposure but did get me approximately to the correct ambient exposure; this image is, therefore, a true flash blur. The sharp image was created by the flashes, the blurred image by the ambient light and the slow shutter speed. And, I was actually working in TV mode -1/3 stop. ISO 400. 1/30 sec. at f/13.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

Can I be you when I grow up? That image is fascinating and is a struggle at this point for me to even understand what it was you did to get it. I keep staring at the detail on that back wing and my mouth just hits the floor.

    Seriously. Dude. That so rocks!

Dear Dudette, No problema. I probably only have a few decades left at best. And thanks for your kind words.

OK........you outdid yourself here! Time travel at it's finest. Back wing position........to full front!!!! You have no idea Artie......but I generally dislike wing blurs.........unless they are this good.

IMO, this is one of the best in your new hummer(6 flash) series

Beside the dual image of the hummer, the color harmonies are excellent...a pleasure for sureto view this one Artie.
Actually all have been a pleasure, but this one seems a step above the others

You know I love blurs! Did you use second curtain flash for this?

Such a rare opportunity to have a photographic statement like this one -- great detail while capturing the essence of the hummingbird with that ghostly yet colorful wing blur. This one needs to be on the cover of your next book, "Going Beyond the Art of Bird Photography".

stunning artie, this is my favourite of all your hummer shots!
I love how the sharp wing position is almost mirrored by the blurred wings. Love the background too.

A special image, very well done. (I might remove a couple dust spots at the top of the frame :D)

All, esp. Van, Thanks for your kind words; they are greatly appreciated.

Blakie-Boy: You missed the two between the wings! I will get all four of them on the optimzed master file. Thanks!

This one is the best yet, Artie. That jewel-like, very sharp hummer and the wonderful blur make this really a work of art.

This is really a super image from a master. Comp works well for me with great colour. And the wing blur just tells me about the speed of it and adds to the image. Well done

I don't know if this counts as a critique, but I want to look at this for a long time!! Wonderful.
