I like the bathing pose and splashing action. Details are there, but image seems a tad dark to me. I also wish for a bit more room all around...I guess you were pretty close!

Hi Jonathan, I don't have a problem with the image being a bit on the dark side in fact it gives it more body IMO you have got some super detail in the whites I do like the bathing action and the spray of water droplets.

Superb bathing pose you have captured here. I like the details in whites and blacks and beautiful flash of water.

    Regards,

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I was too close! The image was taken from a hide in a nature reserve, I have added canvas but it is still a little too large in the frame I think.

Apart from what you have desccibed - a great bathing shot. ( My first love in bird photography ) Would be difficult to add canvas - especially on the right.

Hi Jon, nice control of the exposure, especially in the water splashes too, but agree with dan, it does look a little dark, try +8 brightness and then mask any strong highlight whites to preserve details. You could easily extend the RHS but another 15-20mm if it helped, but a fraction more all round would be helpful, guess the 200-400 would be ideal in this situation Hope you get more from this location.

Ok you have shamed me into a repost, maybe this is a little better, the 100-400 would have been ideal.

Hi Jon, certain a good RP, but I think a Linear blend at around 90% or a Luminosity blend would help the whites as they are starting to look a little hot IMHO. It also brings out some of the finer element too.
