    Default Yellow-Crowned night heron crabbing.

Last one of the yellow crowneds, (For now.) I got super lucky with this one. The birds stand still like statues until they see movement under the seaweed. Then they run over, pick up the seaweed, and sometimes throw their weight and wings into the effort of getting the crab out. This bird ran over too close to me and when he threw up his wings, by sheer luck I got them in the frame. This sort of scene makes me long for a 200x400 but then I would have to pay for a divorce lawyer. I am not quick enough to remove a teleconverter when lying covered in mud.

It should be relatively easy to add canvas left and top if you wish, but I still like the fullness of the comp here in this case. I'm with you about removing TCs when lying down in the muck...you're pretty much at the mercy of the focal length you are using.

Just fantastic. Love the dark BG, the low angle and the pose is to die for.

very nice, sweet light and pose, excellent IQ.

I'm also thinking about buying a 200-400 for situations like this, but I don't think I can log both lenses to location and by Murphy's law I will always have the wrong lens!

Stunning frame, I love the pose and sharpness. I have the nikon 200-400, hardly ever use it, prefer my 600 for shooting bird. Love this series, nice work Grace.

Hi Grace, well timed to capture this action, and I bet you are relieved at getting the wings in - image getting most of this and have had cut the wings, it just wouldnt be the same, would it. Great feather detail, sharp, and just love the soft light. Well captured.
