Default Snowy flying in the fog.

After grabbing a few unprepared frames of a Snowy Egret spat off to my left (see my previous post), I figured I'd better up the SS in case there was more action. I pushed the ISO to 4000, and soon thereafter this guy flew by, low to the water, right past the bank where I was perched. I don't think I've ever shot at ISO 4000 before, and the IQ here may not be ideal, but I was pleasantly surprised. Cropped and rotated just slightly -- this is 85% of full width; and adjusted levels. Ran some Topaz Detail. C&C appreciated.

    D7000, 500f4, ISO 4000, 1/1250s @ f/6.3 manual, fill @ -1.3.

Very nice Bill! All that white helps with the possible noise at ISO 4000.
Perfect wing position and good overall position overall flying towards you.
The reflection of the wing tells us how still and calm the water was as it blends seamlessly into the BG.
Quite a dirty fellow though! I like the slightly open bill.
I see a bit of a smudge just above the feet that I would address,
    Gail

Man, your eyes are good. I can hardly see it even when looking for it, but it's there. Thanks; I'll get rid of it.

Your exposures are so good and PP so good, I don't anyone can shoot the high ISO's with the D7000 and
make them look as good as you.
    Nice moody flight photo.

Looks really good Bill! Whites look great and the flying pose is sweet. Good job anticipating the potential action and pushing your camera to the limits for it. I'd love it if you had more room at right and below, but suspect you do not. Still a fine image!!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments. Daniel, I think I had a little more room to the right, but none beneath where I would have liked it.
