    Default Moss Landing with family

My wife and I recently ventured to California, to spend a few days on Monterey Bay with my sister and brother; and of course to shoot some west coast birds. It was my second visit to Elkhorn Slough, and it didn't disappoint. Just at sunset, the Brown Pelicans, in the thousands, flew from the Moss Landing harbor to their evening roost a mile up Elkhorn Slough. Here are my wife Joanne, and my sister, at the Moss Landing Wildlife Area just after sunset/moonrise, looking up the Slough.

I my several visits, I think I've tried all of the eating establishments. I know the one you mean. My favorites are the Moss Landing Cafe for breakfast (it's open early enough to be in the field for sunrise, and Felipe whips up a mean California omelet), and a Thai place called Lemon Grass for dinner. I don't remember it being there on my visit a few years ago, but the Chachacha seafood medley was outstanding, as was the fried artichoke appetizer, a local specialty.
