    Default Scaled Quail

    Attached Images Attached Images

I think this was my third encounter with the Scaled Quail, so I'm very grateful to have come out with a shot like this one. The perch was set-up, but it took some time before the quail was comfortable enough to jump up on it. Doug and I were under Quik Camo's, and it was amazing to see the species that came in, including: Western Scrub Jay, House Finch, Cooper's Hawk (that scared everything out for a bit), Gambel's Quail, White-Crowned Sparrow, and Curve-Billed Thrasher.

If the perch looks familiar, it's because it's the same one used here. :)

Forget Bosque, I'll be queuing up for Doug's backyard if/when I visit NM next

Nice setup you guys have there. Fantastic shot of this Quail. The perch and the BG really set up this bird well. The techs look great. Nice work.

A very appealing shot. The background works very well to show off the quail.
Nice detail and a great frontal viewpoint that shows exactly why the bird has its name.

Hi Miguel, excellent detail on this quail, and you have captured a super pose. I like the crooked curved perch, and the colour of the BG stands out very well. If anything, I would maybe come in from the left a touch. Just personal.
