I shot this image last summer with my 300 when it was acting up. Some images I was able to save and some were just not sharp enough. This one seems to be ok but please let me know If you don't agree. Beautiful male redhead, St Pete Florida

    Hi Cheryl
On my monitor it looks like the focus point is slightly forward of the eye. Is that the sort of problem you were having ?
The foot for example looks ok.

Open beak and raised foot, lovely! I agree with Johnny, it looks like the focus was closer to the belly/foot than it was on the eye.

Love the behavior and the comp but looks a bit soft to me. I remember how frustrating it was for you when you were having focusing issues. Glad that's all remedied and you have your new 500!!!

It actually dosnt look too bad to me but it looks a little over processed on the head. Sure love this beautiful drake and the pose you caught him in. Well done

Hi Cheryl, super low shooting angle, and well timed to capture the calling with the open beak. I like the earthy colours on this species, especially the head. Cant really fathom where the focus point was, but the head just doesnt seem right.

Yes Johnny focus was all over the place. Oh boo well, majority eyes rule! I missed a lot of great shots during this time because of the focus issues and yes Marina it was very frustrating. Guess I need to head out again and go for round 2 . Thanks everybody
