Orange-throated Longclaw

Cape or Orange-throated Longclaw - Macronyx capensis
Aptly named and easy to identify, the orange throated longclaw is one of the three stunning longclaws our country has to offer. Their colour betrays their name and their distinctive call easily gives up their location.
This particular bird was very accommodating and perched beautifully on a boulder at the top of the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve's tourist route.

Hi Richard, these guys really have lovely bright colours, quite a few around Rietvlei too. I like the angled pose, but pity we cant see that 'long claw' that they have. Love the two tone BG. Comp wise, I would take a bit off the bottom, and come in from the RHS. Maybe a bit off the top too, but maintaining a vertical comp.

I have never even heard of these. I'd love to see a shot with the claw showing. Very nice IQ, I like the perch, and I agree with Stuart about the comp.

Superb image of beautiful looking bird. Very nice colors, pose and BG.
Agree about a little tight crop.
