Ive just returned from our Kruger National Park. Weather wise, very disappointing with overcast skies and patches of rain the whole trip. This waterbuck had just layen down, and I quite liked the angle.

I like the angle too and the POV as well. If it were mine I'd clone some of the more obvious dead weed stalks bu that's being picky. I think the clouds may have helped you here as his colors are very nice and blend with the background well.

Hi Stuart, could be totally wrong but looks like the dull conditions you describe have worked for you I like the light that it as given you which looks almost pastel. The bits of vegetation does not bother me I like it just as it is.

Really like the colour palette here and the soft light. Think you might get away with lifting the whites a little with a layers adjustment (to 240) which will lift it a little without losing the gentle feel of it.

Hi Stu - sorry about the rain but you've made the light work well for you. You've also made a waterbuck look somewhat regal. I too really like the comp and colors here with good sharpness. Ed's suggestion is a good one. I hope you'll post more from your time in Kruger.

Thanks a stack for your feedback everyone. Here is a version with the whites lifted. I didnt go overboard, so maybe not enough, but you can see the difference.

The repost is well done. Love all the details on the waterbuck, the head tilt, the beautiful color on the forehead, the rich details in the fur and the beautiful curved horns. Bkgd shows habitat nicely and does not overwhelm.

Liked the earthy tones in the image. Your repost look good. I might crop a bit off top and right (just my tastes ).

    Hi Stuart,
Superb clarity and detail on this good looking antelope. I like the balance provide by the two bushes in the BG.

Great shot. I like Waterbucks. The composition is fantastic and the image has great detail and sharpness. The point of view is perfect here in my opinion.
    Very well done.

Hi Stu, I wanted to wait until I got back home to view this as i've been away, hence the late reply.

Nicely framed with a good POV. Like the slight turn of the body as it portrays this subject well with good detail & body form. I just wonder if overall it's running a tad warm and wether a slight tweak in Colour balance may help, perhaps dropping the red slightly and upping the yellow? Adding a Channel Curves adjustment also bring up more detail and depth, especially in the horns and body, but masking to avoid dark or shadow areas. As the subject was comfortable in your presence I might have suggested in dropping the ISO as you had plenty of SS.
