Yellow-rumped warblers are prolific right now along the North Shore of Long Island. The challenge is to get them in the open in a nice setting. This is one of only a few keepers from this morning. It's almost full frame as you can tell by the very limited depth of field. I chose to share this pose with you as I like the little patch of yellow on his head.
Sweet pose with the tilted head. Nice light and BG as well.I like the parallel diagonal lines of the vegetation and of the body and head and perch.
I could see a version with the OOF yellow branch that intersects with the beak toned down or cloned out with green vegetation.
You sure were close and I don't think even f 13 would have gotten you all the DOF you wanted. I don't mind the tail and wingtip being OOF but I wish the foot was in focus.
Very nice image of this female (I think? or juvie male?)

Like that you chose this pose. I know what you mean about getting them in the open. The small dof helped throw the left portion of the background enough out of focus so that it's not a huge distraction.
Grace, That is a great classic pose of one of my favorite warblers. I had a brief two day visit with them camera hunting during their migration peak up here at home on Lake Ontario the first week of October. Haven't seen any since. Thank you for the stunning share.
I love Yellow rumped warblers for their understated beauty. People often dismiss these "butter buts". You've captured an excellent pose here, Grace. Great call on the f-stop imo. More dof would likely have given you a distracting bokeh.
