    Default Green-tailed towhee

I rarely post out of the ETL section (2nd time I think), pretty much because my images aren't worthy (yet ). But sometimes, with the help of the bests in the business, I manage to push it to another level and pull out a few gems such as this one.

I had the privilege to spend a full day with Brian E. Small, which for me was pretty much a dream come true since I kind of "blame" him and his photographic guides for giving me the urge to jump into bird photography (As much as I blame Dan Cadieux for choosing to buy a 100-400) I'm still going through all that I have learned on that day, so I'm not done yet applying everything I gained. Plus he was very cool to hang around with. Definitely a day I will never forget, and such images will make sure I won't.

Canon 7D, 600mm IS II (he "forced" me to use his), 1/2000, f/5.0, ISO 400. No flash.

Cropped a bit to remove a twig on the LRC. Another twig cloned out near the tail. Nik Tonal Contrast & Detail Extractor on the bird. Light saturation boost on the iris.

No need to worry about posting in avian when you achieve shots like this. Great singing pose with the open beak, and overall nice and sharp. I like the colour of the smooth BG, together with the OOF foliage running along the bottom. Well captured.

Oh my goodness, this is a beauty. I have never had the pleasure of meeting Brian, but I hope to someday. The only thing that I might do is to play around with the comp a bit and see how it looks with less space on the left, but this is a matter of taste. Good work!

I just LOVE the way your bird is gripping its perch. Super calling pose, colors, details. This is a winner.
