I think it's wonderful. The bird is well exposed, with a good low angle, and the silver sand/water puddle is striking at the feet. Background is beautiful.

I really like the soft bg, striking ripple under the feet within the grey water and the slight reflection of the legs

Love the silver and brown feather pattern on the back. I would have liked to see slightly more detail on the bill but it may be my monitor

Looks like he is standing in a little puddle of light. I do like the angle of the light as well as the plumage. Not "instead of" but perhaps in "addition to", I could see a version with a trim from the top and right. Looks to me like the depth of field was just not enough to allow for a sharp eye and bill at this close distance. Sometimes when this happens to me, I slightly burn the bill which helps to make it look more in focus.

Love the feel of this one, Gail. I am with Grace on the trim. Love the layers in the BG and esp the silver pool of water and the perfect ripple effect.

Nice shot Gail. I too like the feel to this and I really like the highlighted ripples and the BG color. Exposure and details look great. Well done.

I like the composition as it is, the only thing I would suggest would be to brighten the eye and the bill just a little bit. Otherwise a great shot - very atmospheric

A great shot with wonderful soft light and colors. I like the low angle and the clean background. Very good sharpness.
I might crop a tiny bit at the top and right.

I love this Gail. The light is spectacular. I almost was expecting to see that you processed with Silver effex as it almost looks B&W but after looking more I do see color. Love the glistening water.

Love it. Sometimes having off-angle lighting is a welcome change from the common. His little "puddle of light" makes it. And I actually prefer the OP.

Hi Gail, love the early morning feel to this, and you have captured a lovely pose and HA. The ripples of light around the legs takes this up a few notches, and your repost has turned out even better. Well captured.

Late to this one, but I wanted to leave a comment. This shot is fantastic. The mood makes it for me which I why I'd prefer a crop somewhere between the 2.
