Hi Matthew - A very beautiful and tender moment. Your image does not have an embedded color profile so there may be a color shift when posting. It's best to convert to sRGB for posting on the web. Also please post your EXIF data including shutter speed, aperture and ISO as well as a brief description of your post processing. It helps everyone learn from each other and makes it easier for people to offer suggestions for both in the field and in pp.
I really like this. There's a softness to it in terms of color and bg that works really well with the tenderness of the moment. If it were mine I would burn the snow right below the bears a little as it is a little brighter in the center bottom. I would also try to bring out some detail in the fg snow. Overall, congrats on a really beautiful image.
TFS,
Rachel
Hi Matthew,
wonderful image. Love all around and about. Rachel has some good suggestion for it.
Have a great day

Hi Matthew,
A rare sighting well captured, love the tenderness between mother and cubWell processed and presented, nice detail on the subjects and what a lovely pose from the little bear! Congratulations!
Kind regards,

A very endearing shot Matthew. The sort of photo one can look at for ages and still enjoy.
The lack of detail on the snow works well here to focus attention on the polar bear and her cub.
Look forward to seeing more of your stuff.
Hi Matthew, along with Rachels points about Exif data, it's also appreciated if you can add some intro behind the shot as it does really help place the image and offers a background to it.
This for me is the shot we always want to capture and the interaction does typify cuteness, full stop. I like the cleaness of the image, but there is so much detail in the FG snow around the bears I think it's worth extracting, it's not dominating, but it does add something IMHO. Adding also some mid tone pulls out more detail within the coat.

Post Production: It’s ALL about what you do with the tools and not, which brand of tool you use.
This shot was taken from a boat in ANWR while on a research trip for future photo tours in arctic Alaska. This little cub was as cute as could be and I spent quite a bit of time photographing its interaction with the mother. Thanks for the suggestions all!
Incredible! What a very special image!
(looking at above comments... I don't mind the white snow at the bottom... after all, snow IS white! It may be that there are dark-ish areas on the lower left and lower right that are making the snow in the center look a bit brighter to the eye...) The bears still rule here! I, too, could stare at this A LOT!

So much has been said, Matthew - but I can only echo that it's a magnificent shot, moment well captured and I'm glad you started posting here too.
Looking forward to more of your work!
You hit the jackpot on your trip Matthew and I know you have so many more of these to share. Not a cheap location from what I hear but man it looks sooo worth it.
Any plans on coming back to BC this winter? It was nice to meet you briefly with your group last year up by Golden Ears.
Cheers
Jamie
This isn't one of your super warbler shots, but it's sure a super shot!
This is fantastic. Ppl are right about the snow in front - a bit distracting from an otherwise stunning image. I would even consider losing some of the snow off the bottom, perhaps half of it.

what more can I add to this? It's simply a stunning picture. well done!
Absolutely stunning shot. One of the cutest and best polar bear shots I've seen.

Beautiful image, 5 stars all the way! Tender moment captured with great eye contact. TFS.
Nothing much to say apart from the fact that, it will make a sensational Mother's Day greeting card!
