The eyes of herons & egrets look perfectly normal when viewed as a profile, but look at them straight on and this is what you see! I used one of my favorite combinations of Pixel Bender Oil Paint and Topaz Buz Sim.

A cross-eyed heron! This is a good image for the theme. It made me laugh.

Well done, Nancy. The fact that the bird is looking right at you really helps to make this image work.

That is such a funny view, Nancy! The eyes and the impossibly long-looking neck make him look like a cartoon character. Put a smile on my face!

The elegant (usually the side view) becomes comical. The stark simplicity of it all makes it work so well. (wonder what this one swallowed that it has that lump on the side of its neck?) very creative!

I like the lump (or is it ruffled feathers?) too. Nice perspective, Nancy

While in grade school, I got this look often from my teachers. Nice accentuation of the eyes.

Thanks all! Glad to add a smile to everyone's day ! I think that lump is something the bird ate and is still in the process of going down!

Nice effects, cool bird.... very funny I laughed, this is also the kind of thing that sneaks into my dreams and start chasing me.

Love all the work except for the one bigger bulge on his neck sticking off to the right.
