Gail I think this is about my favorite image I've seen of yours.

The FG mosses I believe just accentuate everything beautifully.

What was the BG??? It's got gorgeous color to it and picks up nicely on some of the birds colors.

I wish there was a tad more detail in the eye like a highlight, but that's it. Love the rest.

Perch, pose, and BG combine to create an excellent photo. Even though it's rainy, I like that there's nice color in the image. The BG does seem a little posterized, but that's a minor issue for an overall great frame.

Amazing photo, I've been looking for migratory snipes for weeks now here in Trinidad with no luck. Love the subdued light, HA and tiny droplet on its bill. Also the rain (I assume) adds that proverbial cherry on top.

Lovely shot Gail, you did well to get so close they are rather shy birds (well they are in UK !) I like the setting and the raindrop on the bill. I wonder if the crop would look better 3:2??

Gail this is a super image. Love the droplets on the bill and vegetation. Excellent detail and you have done very well with the lighting here for a rainy day.

Stunning image Gail, love the water droplets and great perch. Agree with BG looking a bit posterized. The bird really pops nicely, lovely image.

fantastic. As mentioned before, the colors work very nicely together, and as unpleasant as photographing in the rain can be, those droplets on the moss really are such a fun detail here.

    Gail:

Lovely shot, the drops on the ferns/moss add a lot, soft light, pose, all excellent.
Agree about the subtle posterization in bg, probably from the jpeg conversion, but the image is very strong. You should be proud of this one!

    Cheers
