Taken at the local zoo (in Albuquerque) ... who would have thought I'd move to ABQ and find a place to shoot ducks?! Thanks to Doug and another local photographer for showing me around this place. I'll be back next weekend!

More Wigeons, Mallards, and Wood Ducks than you can imagine, although getting them in flight is another story. I got lucky enough to have this one stick out his tongue for me.

    Shooting info:
    Nikon D800 | 500 f/4 VR
    1/1000" | f/5.6 | ISO 800

If you have the chance and know a thing or two about choosing a computer for editing purposes, I sure could use your input in a thread I started here on BPN. Thanks!

Just gorgeous Miguel, love the pose, the eye is awesome.

Any room on the bottom??? I almost wish the whole reflection was there just for the green to be on the water.

I answered your other post about the computer.

Glad you are getting some tips on birding here.

I can ask my neighbor in Corrales if she will allow you and a couple others onto her property for the ducks. She has a pond that was supported and partially paid for by the WWF and had the first pair of nesting wood ducks in the Rio Grande valley after a huge lapse of them, back in 1999 or 2000 I think it was.
Great spot to practice and take photos.
She gets all kinds of crazy critters there now, owls nesting nearby, hawks, raccoons, etc.

Great looking image, Miguel. Love the beautiful water, open beak showing the tongue and the IQ.
Doug probably told you about Socorro and the pond at the Technical College where you will find Wigeons and they would fly towards you.

Wow a great image. You captured a fantastic moment :) Not many bird's tongues we get to see.
I would have loved to see more space around the bird, especially the complete reflection of the bird.

Not often we see a dabbler's tongue sticking out like that! Nice colours, details, BG. Maybe a bit of CW rotation and more room for the comp.

Sweet pose and nice shooting angle on this beauty, Miguel. Love the water color and how the fg blends into the bg. +1 to a slight CW rot and tad more room.
