    Default 3D Shoveler

Captured this handsome Drake Northern Shoveler last winter at a local wildlife refuge. This has been one that I really liked because it was a bit different.
I think the shadow on the far wing makes the head look separated and gives it a 3D look to it. The light on the scaupularies was pretty nice too.

    Hope you like it.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. I appreciate it.

You are right David, it looks pretty 3D. I like the light, colors and the sharpness of the heade and body.

    David,

The colors and wing position on this one are killer. I do think that the image could be a tad sharper.

Very dynamic pose and great color! The winter ducks will be in So. Cal. soon; hopefully we can photograph them together. I might apply a little selective sharpening to the head.

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

The original file is pretty sharp so I didnt add any for the web so it didnt look over sharpened. Here is some added. Thanks again

Doug, The ducks are showing up in good numbers this season. I just got back from a falconry trip to Wyoming last week and the ducks were there in big numbers and will be headed down south soon. Hope you can make it this winter.

Awesome pose and love the 3D effect, David. Nice eye contact and bg too. Couple of spots of white look a tad hot that I'd try and tame. Love the orange feet. As always, nicely done.
