Default Red fronted Tinkerbird chipping away

This little guy has been chipping away on one of my porch hardwood poles for a few weeks now. Part of the reason he is taking so long, other than it is extremely hard wood, is that there is human traffic coming past it continuously. So I am not sure why he so persistent.

    Handheld
    Canon 1D MK IV, 300 f2.8 plus 2 X extender MK III
    ISO 1600 - f6.3 - 1/1250 sec

It was midday and I had to shoot from a suitable window position around the corner from my front door as was very alert if I tried out the door. - too close - managed to get a nice clean BG from that position too.

    LR5 basics
PSE 9 - LM - Light round of NR, trunk of tree also received some NR as it is part of BG but it was oof anyway - USM - SFW - Initially it was more of a square crop but adjusted to what it is now.

Now that I see it I could probably have done another round of sharpening.

Look forward to your C&C. Thanks

    Carl,

Greetings. Interesting colorful subject. I particularly like the pose. I would trade some room at the bottom for room at the top. Agree with a bit more sharpening. Thanks fro posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Excellent detail and colours for midday sun, worked out very nicely. I like the comp with a lot of space on the LHS. Great shot Carl.

Nice capture of this beautiful little bird. I like the pose and the comp you chose. Not sure if it needs more sharpening or if its just a little noisy. Nice work Carl

Nice capture, beautiful colors and nice pose. I find that the negative space is too much on the left. You might want to try a vertical comp as well.
