Default Catch of the Day - Giant Kingfisher

    Canon 7D, 400m f2.8, ISO 800, 1/4000, f3.5, Exp -0.3. (Sharpened, exposure, vibrancy)
Little frustrated by the fact that I changed the depth of field from 7.1 to 3.5 just before this shot (and with all the excitement forgot to change it back). Shucks.
    Anyway, still like the image.
    Look forward to your comments.

    Hi Richard.
I think your finished image looks great I'm a little puzzled about your concern about the DOF 7.1 to 3.5 I would be more than thrilled to get a result like this, would be very interested to know your views on how you think it could be improved.

    Regards Keith.

No issue with the dof for me at all. Both the face and the prey item are sharp as can be. There is a bit of noise or pixilation in the BG, but other than that everything here rocks!

DOF covers the subject fine as is , Richard. I would try a version with NR or a blur and slight desaturation on the BG. Great timing with this.

Excellent timing. Great details with enough DOF to cover both subjects. TFS
