This is a rework of an image that I made quite some time ago. I'm not sure what the technicals are (weren't embedded in the JPG), but I do remember using the Sigma 500 f/4.5 + Kenko 1.4xTC out at Ft. Desoto to make this image. I cropped a little from the left and top and added some canvas to the right (only because I reworked an existing JPG).
The first thing that impressed me about this image was the creamy quality of the background, there's a subtle foggy look to it that makes it very attractive. OF course, the subject don't suck ;)
Overall, an excellent job. I don't mind not seeing the feet, in this case covered by water, when they are covered by OOF sand, I'll take them too :)
The bird looking back into the pano works well here - you rule breaker you ;)
I concur with the previous comments about the nice background. Looks almost like a long exposure on the water but I doubt the bird would hold still for that long.
I like this a lot. I think it's very pleasing to look at and I wonder what the Godwit is seeing outside the frame and that's ok. The nice smooth bg I think makes the pano work really nice here. I think it's well done, Blake.
Blake i really like the loads. The space on the right is just awesome for me. Adds to the long bill of the bird. Strong comp colour and great BG. A Very Well Done from me
