    Default Blue Jay

Why are some common birds so skiddish? Anyways, here is an image from the other day.

    Mike:

I find that the "skiddish" birds tend to have too much oil or grease on their feet, so they just slide or skid along. The skittish ones have just found that behavior to be a successful evolutionary strategy.

Sorry Mike, I just couldn't resist.

I do like the picture, and find the Blue Jay to be particularly skittish at my feeders.

Hi Mike, The BG is very nice........wondering if it would have been worth sacrificing it for more DOF to get more detail in the tail???

Most Blue Jays are very skittish here too, but if you can find a spot where you can find them while remaining in your car they will willingly tolerate your presence if you toss out some peanuts out the car window. Some of the whites are a little hot (near legs and base of tail) , toning those down would improve this image alot. Nice pose, and look-back glance.

I agree with increasing your depth of field to include the tail, especially since technically it's in the foreground...but I will say that is an INCREDIBLE background and you definitely captured some amazing detail. Nice perch and nice light too. Excellent post.

You start to feed them they will change. I have yet to get a decent image of one.I like the bird and the perch what bothers me is that black area but then again sometimes you have no control over the situation.
