    Default Crab Brunch

    Nikon D300 Sigma 300-800mm @ 700mm
    ISO 400 1/500 @ F16
    Tripod with Mongoose 3.5 head.

I used F16 because I was very close to my minimum focus distance. I wanted both the crab and birds eyes sharp.
Only about 2" of DOF at that distance, focal length and aperture.
Focused right in the middle of the bill.
It was getting on in the morning (brunch) and this was one of the last images for that session.
Prepared on a laptop so I don't really know how it looks.

    James:

I would say it looks pretty darn good. Nice job on the dof under these challenging conditions. Lovely colors, crab.

    Comp works as well.

    Cheers

This is a really great image of a juvenile Little Blue Heron with a crab, especially the crab! DOF well chosen, excellent lighting and composition. Would have liked a tad more detail in the white head plumage. regards~Bill

But the truth is - it wasn't the lens, it wasn't the camera, it was all me.
