Wonderful shot. I like the eye contact, the composition and the visible tongue.
The strong shadow works well in this shot for me, gives it some depth.

What is the food in front of the mongoose? A bone?

Unfortunately not-it was a piece of a ground squirrel killed by a speeding tourist . Thanks for the comments.

Hi Ben - I like the compsition and nice pose with the eye contact and the tongue out. The clean bg looks very good. Great IQ and nice to see the rectangular pupils so clearly. Great image.

Hi Ben - this works really well. The pose with the tongue out and the tail wrapped around the front slightly is very nice. Detail and sharpness look good and it looks like you handled the bright light well.

Btw it's great to have your thoughts on other threads. Thanks for stepping up the comments.

Lovely picture of a rarely photo'd species. Most things have been said - this is a winner.

Hi Ben, good pose, details, eye contact. Light seemed hash, but you handled it well. Did you lighten the right eye of the Mongoose (our left)? The pupil looks a bit funny to me. Loi

Thanks for the comments. I did lighten the one eye-the other one. They have these funny square pupils.

Nice pose with the tongue. I too was wondering what the food was - sad that people don't regard wildlife in wildlife areas.
I would be tempted to add a little brightness to the mongoose, perhaps dodge highlights and midtones a bit?
