We were staying at the Mara Leisure Camp near Talek river, just outside at the back of the camp was a bridge over the river leading to the Mara Reserve. On both the sides of the bridge there were many Vervet monkeys jumping around. The even got on the the bridge often to play. The light was fading when I got this chap in the foliage. This was hand held at 1/80 @6400 ISO

    Aperture f/5.6

Hi Sanjeev, I think going tighter top/RHS will help, likewise more DOF, but based on the techs, could be an issue, LOL. Will see what's what when I get back this afternoon.

    Cheers for now

Hi Sanjeev, I like the look to camera, for me it has an almost 'startled' look or 'surprised' look? I also like the way you have some vegetation to link the subject in. Great to see you pushing the boundaries of ISO, well done, but the image really does need as you already know more DOF.

So, as promised lets see if we can expand on your feedback, personally I would crop tighter, so the top trim runs through the eaten part of the leaf above the subject. Then vertically through the main leaf to the RHS so the brown part is excluded, plus prune the leaf top left, just distracting. In LR I just adjusted some of the Exp setting and tried to extract a bit more detail in the face, albeit very little, plus worked around the eyes to get more definition/clarity in the skin around. Expanded the mid tone overall. You may feel the subject is between out two postings to add a bit more 'pop' your call. I had to go as per the OP as cropping diminished any detail I did retrieve, hope this helps.

    Cheers
    Steve

Steve, your crop suggestion is indeed a good one. I think it will draw more focus on those eyes that I wanted to showcase. Also your PP has helped take the image up one level. Thanks Guru!

Sanjeev, suggested crop on it's way, I think 'WE' need to get you moving in you PP skills, looks like you are enjoying things to, it comes through in the images and things are falling nicely into place.

Sanjeeve, love those eyes! Steve's RP sharpened them quite a bit. Steve's RP had more contrast and brought out more details too.

Sanjeeve, you did quite well here at ISO-6400 and 1/80 SS. My initial thought was that you had too much space on the RHS for a portrait. With hindsight, a vertical might have been better here. Loi

Hi Sanjeev - another nice portrait. You certainly shot a nice variety on your trip. Steve's rp has really taken this to a whole new level with excellent detail and sharpness. Agree on cropping from the right or going vertical in the field.

    Rachel

Hi Sanjeev - those eyes draw you straight in. I agree Steve's version really brings the detail in a lot more. Great shot.

Exceptional sharpness for the shooting conditions! I like the look too. Steve's version is nice, would crop even tighter on it though from RHS?

Thanks Morkel, the 500mm II IS is incredible, make me use it handheld confidently and paired with 5D3 it is terrific, I can only imagine what it can do on the 1DX. :-)
