    Default Black-bellied whistling chick.

My mission was to capture these little Black-bellied whistling chicks, I don't like the bg to much. I might do a vertical crop some advice would be appreciated.

What a great photo. The background doesn't bother me at all. My eyes are drawn right to the bird's face, which is very sharp. I love the feet! I like the horizontal crop.

    Mike,

Greetings. Agree with Karen... love the feet. I particularly like the color and the little green shoots. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

I too agree with the views expressed above. A delightful image with beautiful colours and the sharpness is there where it counts-love it!

BG looks good to me. OK, there are two or three larger spots in front of the head that could be eliminated, but the rest of it looks good. Love the little sprouts of grass, and the "Charlie Chaplin" feet are neat! I would perhaps tone down the sheen on the bill (a low opacity clone tool could work). Square crop works well.

I really like this image!!! The vegetation works extremely well with the little one and the color palate is great. Love his pose. I personally don't feel as though a vertical comp would work as well as this b/c the chick would then be too big in the frame and you wouldn't be able to feel its vulnerability. You could also go wider with this one to accentuate it's vulnerability. I think the BG & FG here are great.
