One from last spring, kind of liked the two toned BG and rusty wire perch. A little centered, I wanted to keep a barb on both sides of the bird. 5DMKII, 1000mm, f11, 1/1600s, ISO 400, cropped a touch for comp.

    Hello Steve!

Killer BG and I love the barbed wire, the crop looks good to me Not sure if the bird is sharp enough though, maybe my screen is at fault or my new glasses are deceiving-nevertheless I really like your comp here and the clean look of this image. Was the little one singing his heart out? Very very cute little bird, great pose!

    Kind regards,

I really like this. Love your techs with that DOF and the 2X.
As you have mentioned, the 2 toned BG is very pretty. The eye looks terrific and the singing pose is perfect for a lark.
I think the wire perch works as well as the composition you have chosen.
My only suggestion would be to either increase the contrast a little bit or add a couple of points of blacks to the neutrals in selective color in CS (if you have it)

The colours are very appealing!! As posted the lark could use an additional round of sharpening, and there is a faint dust bunny in upper right corner.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Agree that it could use a little contrast/sharpening. Noticed the dust bunny after posting (of course). Gabriela, there were quite a few of these guys spaced out every so often along this fence. Kind of nice listening to them try to outdo each other with their calls.

Hi Steve, missed this one - also been offline for most of the week, upgraded my whole PC system. Great HA which shows off his eye so well, and the placement work well with regards to your reasoning. Yep, that two tone BG really looks great. I also feel some selective sharpening around the head wont harm.
