Default Sitting pretty - common loon and chick

    Attached Images Attached Images

This common loon and chick was imaged in June, when the chick was just a couple of days old. He spent a significant amount of his time on one of the parents backs or tucked under a wing, both for warmth and protection from predators, mainly snapping turtles and pike.

Post: LR/CS6 Cleaned up a few blotches in water, cropped for comp, selective sharpening of birds. Cleaned up second catchlight in adult and a long white catchlight streak in reflection of both birds

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

    What a wonderful image.
Exposure is perfect and love the clarity of the chick's eye and his HA.

Amazing.... Perfectly composed and imaged. Love how the baby is a bit looking up, like.... wow, here's my new world! Reflection is perfect too.
(I'm going thru baby Loon withdrawal already!) Hope you have more to share, Randy!

Great photo. I like how you can see that the baby is right inside the parent's feathers. Such nice detail of both birds.

Thanks everyone, your input is much appreciated. I did think it was rather cute the way the parents feathers flipped up over the chicks breast like a tiny blanket.
