    Default Ebony Langur (Zoo Pic)

    Canon 60d

    1/1000 @ f5.6 ISO 4000
Taken at The Bronx Zoo. I was planning on bringing a few shorter/wider lenses but left them all on the kitchen table! So....it was a day of pulling back as far as I could. :)

    Very nice portrait.
You totally captured the melancholy lonely Zoo look that captive primates have.
Not sure if that was your intention, but you succeeded if it was.
    Nice light.....
The BG could use some noise reduction.

Thank you very much. Yes it was the look that made me take the shot. But as you said " the melancholy lonely Zoo look that captive primates have." is hard to miss. I agree about the BG noise. I will clean it up. Thanks again for your comments, much appreciated.

Hi Craig - The Bronx Zoo is a great place to shoot. I often go there to practice with new equipment. Was this through glass? Dan has pointed out the need for NR on the bg. You did a nice job minimizing the other langur in front so that it is not a distraction. If it were mine I might burn the highlights on the langur just slightly (maybe 3%) and apply a screen adjustment to give the eyes a lift.

Thanks Rachel! I did a little more NR on BG and tried to enhance the eyes a bit and worked to lower the highlights a bit. I believe it was through glass. I will add my comments to other threads, I do look at all of them and usually my reaction is WOW! Thanks again. :)

Hi Craig, I like the comp/pose, although not having part of the other Monkey would have been better, but that's in an ideal world. If you shot through glass then well done for finding the clear spot.

You have capture some very good detail and nicely processed, with good sharpness. Based on the OP in Colour balance I tweaked the sliders +3, 0, -5 it help the BKG less cold and brought a bit more colour to the fur. Added a mid tone curve to the face to bring a bit more definition, then upped the brightness in the eyes using masks. I think the highlights in the fur look spot on. I hadn't notice the BKG noise, but a little NR would help, I assume you didn't Globally sharpen, if so this would enhance the BKG?

The easy way to learn is jump in and add any thoughts to the threads, it could be a comment we all have missed and take that image up a gear.

Look forward to more from you.
