A profile shot of this good looking juve male lion was taken at the Mara Triangle in Aug 2013. I liked his mane a lot! And I was pleased to get this one without the ubiquitous flies that seem to hound these majestic creatures :-)

Love this shot, great attitude and intimacy about it.

I would brighten the highlight in his eye just a bit.

Only thing that bothers me is the OOF grass/weed in front of his face, could be more of a tree that's further in the BG I can't tell.

Hi Sanjeev, I think this is looking batter colourwise, but am still on the laptop, so...

What's bugging me is if you took the ext off you would have had all the mane in, not clipped as presented, then only needed a light crop and this would be a corker of an image, but easy to say with hindsight . I would either drop the exp/highlights or add a Lumo adjustment for the chin just to bring out a bit more tone. The scrub bush in front is borderline, but sample some colour and give it a wash over to knock back the slightly brighter areas will help.

Nice detail and color. Just a little tighter on the left side (as viewed) and a little more space up top for me.

Fantastic portrait with great sharpness. I like the tight composition, the light and the soft color.

The 5D III focus system strikes again, super sharp shot. The oof grass does not bother me at all, that's where lions live. I agree with sharpening the highlight in the eye and is too bad you clipped a bit of the mane on top but still a keeper to me. Nice job.

Yes a keeper but shame it's a bit tight. It's hard to compose in the field when you just get a moment like this, so usually better to have some space by removing extender before hand. Easy to say now of course.

Hi Sanjeev - I really like these profile shots and do a lot of them myself. Agree with the above comments about the clipped mane and the highlights on the chin. A possibility to overcome the clipped mane is to crop in a fair amount assuming IQ will hold up.

    Rachel
