    Default Mara Giraffe

As we entered Masai Mara from Lake Nakuru we spotted this Giraffe sitting in the grasslands giving a nice eye level view. I was not sure if I should go vertical for this but I liked this anyway. Have cropped in portrait orientation too, will post if you guys prefer that.

Hi Sanjeev - Nice image of a young giraffe. It is tack sharp and detailed. I like the crop - If anything I might crop the blade of grass out on the bottom LHS. Awesome portrait. WD!!!

This is attractive to me for being different than the usual view. I love the sharpness and detail and the tonalities are very well handled, with detail in the darks and lights and excellent midtone contrast. Well done.

I like the bits of grass in the left corner, to help balance the animal. I could wish they were not so close to the edge -- if you have more of the image on that edge it might be interesting to see what a slightly wider crop would look like.

Hello Sanjeev , This is a beautifully created Image ! I absolutely love the fact I can see the flies ! Keep in mind ,I am just starting to venture out from ETL forum ,So I may well be off base here , However if it were mine ,I would darken the Bg ever so slightly ,and blur the single blade of grass Lower left . The image is fantastic as-is , and I tend to over-do my processing ,so take my comment with a salt box .

Hi Sanjeev, these two posting you have made recently have certainly taken you up a gear, well done.

Overall and I could be wrong as I am still away, I feel you need to tweak the WB which would help the overall colour cast you seem to be getting in some images, just cool it down a tad, WDYT? If you need a hand drop me a line. I agree with Clyde's observation, I think if you just drop the exposure overall it would also help. Adding some mid-tone and or selective exp/highlight adjustment to parts of the face does bring about more of the detail you captured. Good call on the eyes some nice detail & clarity in the RH one as viewed, it has a nice sheen & colour to. The blades of grass in the BKG are not too much of a problem, but I would look to correcting them on the body of the Giraffe, again if you need help shout. The comp works IMHO and I like the space to the LHS. Techs look good but I think + 0.33, or 0 may have been better, but I'm judging on the posting not the RAW.

Thank you for adding some intro, it does make a BIG difference.

    Hope this helps Sanjeev.

Gorgeous animal..... only one thing I would want to see different, not sure why, is a rotate counter clock wise just a teeny bit, I think it might make the neck angle look a little more natural.

Just love these Maasai Giraffe, different than our South African Giraffe variant.
Lovelu portait here Sanjeev, your posting quality is really going up and up. I like the OP comp as is, and actually like the warmer tone. I would darken BG, but in Steve's repost the giraffe is also a tad dark for me...so maybe apply more selectively.

    Hi Sanjeev,

I also like the Mara Giraffes, they really do look a bit different from the ones in the south. The comp is good for me. I would try to get between your OP & Steve's RP. That would work very well for me.

    Have a great weekend

    Ciao

Hi Sanjeeve, I too like the warm tone of the OP. Love the detail of the hair on top and the fine details of the fur. Excellent image. I like the comp. Steve's RP brought out the details on the face that the OP lacks. So, I'd try to reduce the exposure ever so slightly, add contrast to the OP to bring out details on the face. Loi

Hi Sanjeev - Sorry I'm late to this, just got back from a long weekend away and didn't want to comment based on viewing on netbook. I have to agree with both Steve and Morkel that your recent posts are really a nice step up. I like the comp here and you've brought out really nice detail. Somewhere in between your post and Steve's would do it for me.

    TFS,
    Rachel
