Common Black-Hawk - San Blas, Nayarit, Mexico - March

This species breeds from southwestern Utah, Arizona, and locally in Texas in the US. The range continues through Mexico, Central Anerica, and northern South America. It preys almost exclusively on aquatic animals and is thus restricted to the vicinity of rivers, streams and coastal areas.

You're right, they are closely related to the Harris' Hawk (Parabuteo unicinctus), the Common Black-Hawk is (Buteogallus anthracinus).

Awesome. Nice details, good vertical comp. A couple of the brighter leaves could be toned down IMO to keep our attention squarely on the hawk.
